What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic health care is a branch of the healing arts based on the scientific fact that our nervous
system controls or influences the function of every cell in our body. Interference to the nervous system
(caused by the vertebral subluxation complex) will effect how the nervous system relates to the cells to
which it travels.
The term "Chiropractic" comes from the Greek words "cheiro and praktikos" meaning "done by hand".
The Chiropractic model of health is centered on the philosophy that the human body, being knit together
in a wonderful way, will heal itself given the right opportunity and circumstances. Doctors of Chiropractic
(D.C.s) essentially promote the healing process by minimizing nerve interference.
What is an adjustment?
As a Chiropractic patient, you should know some of the details concerning spinal adjustments. Spinal
adjustments help the body correct the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. An adjustment is the Chiropractic
art of gently freeing the spinal bones in areas where they are stuck so the body can correct its own
subluxations by returning the bones to a more normal position and motion.
What are your hours?
How can I set up an appointment?
The fastest way is to call (483-6633). Our front office team will walk you through some questions for you.
You will want to have any insurance information handy, such as a current insurance card.
Can I adjust myself?
No! It takes another person trained to find the Vertebral Subluxation Complex and trained to give a
scientific, specific Chiropractic adjustment.
What is the difference between manipulations and adjustments?
There is a big difference. Spinal manipulation is forceful returning of bones back where the doctor wants
them to be. An adjustment is the gentle release of stuck or misaligned areas in the spine allowing the
body to correct VSC itself.
What is the noise?
Some people have noisy joints, for example, when they stoop, they can hear their ankles and their hips
and their knees make noises. Those of you who are noisy will hear noises when you receive and
adjustment. Those of you who are not, will hear nothing. The noise is not related in any way with the
effectiveness of the adjustment.
Can I have adjustments if I have spinal disease or have had spinal surgery?
Certainly. It is the Chiropractor's responsibility to know the spine he is working on. Each spine is as
unique as a finger print. A Chiropractor is a specialist in determining the exact areas and degrees of
spinal subluxation. He knows how to work with or around any areas in the spine and how to do exactly
what is necessary to release the most subluxations possible during each office visit.
Can I adjust other people?
No! It takes a special doctor, a Chiropractor, highly trained, to find the Vertebral Subluxation Complex
and to give a scientific, specific adjustment.
